Real-time credit score APIs — what's available
No free public credit score API exists without a hard pull. The options below are the legitimate paths — each involves a formal agreement with a bureau or fintech partner.
BestCredit Karma / Intuit API
Free VantageScore 3.0 from TransUnion and Equifax via their consumer app. No hard pull. No public API — you'd need a formal data partnership with Intuit. For personal use: both of you sign up at creditkarma.com and check weekly. Updates every 7 days.
DeveloperExperian Connect API
Official Experian API for fintech apps. Returns FICO Score 8, tradelines, and full credit report data. Requires business account, compliance review, and per-pull fees (~$1–3/pull). URL: developer.experian.com
DeveloperTransUnion TrueVision / FactorTrust
B2B API for lenders and fintechs. Full FICO + VantageScore access. Requires signed data use agreement. Not available to individual consumers. transunion.com/business/credit-risk
PracticalPlaid + Finicity
Plaid Consumer Report and Finicity (Mastercard) offer credit score data as part of their open banking APIs. Require app registration. Best path if you eventually want to build a full personal finance app around this planner. plaid.com/products/consumer-report
Recommendation for your use case: Both of you create free accounts at Credit Karma and myFICO.com. Check monthly, then manually update your scores below. This planner will track the trend over time as you log updates.
